PostHeaderIcon Examining Platform Beds And Bedroom Furniture Industry Trends For 2008

One of the most interesting things about working behind the scenes in furniture is the opportunity to see new and emerging products enter the retail landscape. Among those trends are the latest styles and designs in modern platform beds and matching furniture. In this article I’ll take you through some of the newest and most popular designs in bedroom furniture and we’ll also take a look at some of the hottest colors available for beds today.

Heading into 2008 several manufacturers introduced new bedroom products which combined rich wood tones with an outer framework made up of steel/metal. In many of these products dressers, chests and nightstands feature wood construction on the main upper case units and a steel base introduced at the bottom of the unit. Many of these pieces use straight, clean lines and wood tones featured include cognac, espresso and java. Several manufacturers are also giving consumers the choice of steel finish color and with a variety of earth tones and metal finishes it really gives the opportunity to create a unique look all your own.

A popular design element from 2007 has continued into 2008 and consists of beds which feature a headboard design that have a slight angle towards the wall. Often shown in modern and contemporary designs these same features are starting to find their way into more traditional designs as well. When you’re out shopping notice these beds as they move away from the typical headboard features which tend to be straight vertically. Most of the beds designed with this slight angle to the headboard can be measured away from the lower portion of the bed by no more than 4-5 inches. So these beds are not increasing the overall length of the bed by much and create a more interesting design. This design aspect really makes you think about traditional sleigh style beds with the curving features found in both the headboard and footboard and perhaps these new design elements borrow on this classic design.

Four poster beds are also getting a modern makeover and a well deserved one this year. European designs from the 16th and 17th centuries predominantly featured many of the traditional designs that furniture makers today draw from for inspiration. These timeless designs have their place in many homes but don’t blend so well with modern contemporaries in today’s homes. Several manufacturers have created and introduced new designs which give straight clean lines to the bed posts and have refined the look of the headboard and footboard to give us a more modern poster bed. I think folks who liked the idea of a poster bed but were perhaps discouraged by the traditional look can take great joy in knowing that a modern approach to this classic design is now available.

In 2007 a large majority of manufacturers in contemporary furniture were using darker wood tones in the ever popular cappuccino and espresso finishes. For those who aren’t familiar with these finishes they are very deep finishes with brown tones that almost look black but have a strong brownish tint when exposed to direct light. Furniture manufacturers in the industry have been using these colors more and more over the last several years and I think a majority of the modern furniture you see in the marketplace are shown in these colors or at the least available in these finishes. In January 2008 though several manufacturers are introducing cognac or reddish-brown colors into wood tones and finishes much like the casegoods we talked about towards the beginning of this article. Look for these colors to start appearing in stores either showcased as floor models or available as special order.

In this article we discussed many of the new trends in design and finishes moving into 2008 for modern bedroom furniture. We looked at manufacturers combining wood cases with steel bases to create new bedroom furniture designs that bring metal and wood together. New design elements like slightly angled headboards are also becoming popular with today’s platform beds designs. Four poster beds are getting a modern touch with designs featuring straight lines and refined headboard and footboard features. We also looked at some of the emerging trends in finishes and rich colors which include cognac and espresso. I hope this article has given you a inkling of the many trends that are happening in the bedroom today. I encourage you to visit your local furniture stores, watch the many home shows that are on television and read through furniture publications to keep up with what is happening in the world of furniture today.

PostHeaderIcon Bedroom Furniture Manufacturers – The Quest For Quality

Most furniture manufacturers work towards improving their products as their commitment to perfection. Often, they go out of their way to ensure they meet the highest quality standards and though some actually succeed, others simply close shop without any correct ideas as to why or how it happened.

Over the years, furniture makers have viewed quality perfection as the pivotal component behind every successful venture. And they are correct because over and above everything else that seems to make furniture companies excel in the industry, it is what they make that actually makes them. This realization ultimately drives them to exhaust their means in order to give the best of themselves in every aspect of their business from customer assistance to the industrial nitty-gritties.

Problem is, while most efforts come with the best of intentions, they’re simply not the best things to do at the particular time they are implemented. A manufacturer, for example, might invest millions in restructuring the industrial side of the business only to find his efforts unhelpful and even contributory to his permanent downfall.

Before any major project is undertaken, manufacturers need to go back to the basic universal dogma of customer satisfaction being the single driving force that helps a business succeed at any point in time. And no matter how complicated things look on the surface, it’s only a happy customer that matters from beginning to end.

The question is not even how to make customers happy. It’s simply knowing what ticks and what doesn’t and working from there. The challenge lies in implementing the best programs to have an accurate picture of what end users are actually looking for. Unless this is put at the forefront of every business strategy, all other investments from machinery to human resources are inevitably at risk.

Take, for example, a small company that takes a shot at the big time by embarking on a major office and showroom renovation. Business owners believe this luxurious new look would drive in more sales from customers who will begin to think they’re actually big. What they don’t know is people don’t care whether they get cheap furniture or designer furniture as long as they get what they’re happy with. Flea market or designer shop, the source just doesn’t really matter. After all, in the eyes of the customer, the only reason why furniture dealers exist is to make his life better.

PostHeaderIcon Mission Oak Bedroom Furniture

The mission style of furniture is the kind that is made of simple horizontal or vertical lines. This style of furnishing shows beauty in simplicity as it does not have any frills or heavy designs attached to it. The mission style of design is generally used in the oak wood. The mission oak furniture is generally heavy and big, this is because there is not intricate work or design present on the furniture, and it is only a solid piece of furniture. This style of furnishing is ideal for a big home that is designed in an ancient style, as it gives a classic look to the room. This look enhances the beauty of a bedroom as it not only looks classic but is also extremely comfortable due to its voluminous size.

Mission oak bedroom furniture is ideal for designing in the classic decor style because this kind of furniture is made with heavy oak wood. A large bed made in oak wood placed in the middle of a room, decorated with white crisp linen and white matching pillows would look magnificent. To go along with this type of bed, a set of oak side tables would accentuate the beauty of the bed. A large size wardrobe cabinet made in oak furniture would further add to the majestic look of the bedroom. This kind of mission oak bedroom furniture is an ideal choice for a bedroom that is large in size, preferably a master bedroom. A master bedroom designed in mission oak furniture is a better option because it is the largest bedroom in the house and also belongs to the head of the house.

The beauty of mission oak furniture is enhanced if there is enough natural light entering the room, this gives a palace like feel to the room when the oak wood furniture gets lit up by the sunlight and the line designs of the mission style are seen in the play of light and shadow. The bedroom is a place where one relaxes and rests. If the interiors of the bedroom are done with beauty this purpose of the room is served well. Mission oak bedroom furniture helps achieve this purpose with extreme ease and simplicity. The mission oak furniture is also easy to maintain and clean as it does not contain too many design niches, this makes it easier to clean out the dust from the furniture and to keep it looking clean and attractive for a longer time.

The bedroom is one of the most personal places within a house, and what is in a person’s bedroom says a lot about who they are. Many will find that a range of beautiful furniture will provide warm, richness and life to a bedroom. Products such as bookcases, desks, bedside tables and coffee tables all give a bedroom a cozy, personal feel. It is all about the positioning and combination of furniture that leads to a bedroom that just jumps out at you.

There are some amazing pieces of furniture available to purchase, that are also incredibly affordable. For example, modern 4 shelf bookcases are industrially designed from some of the best quality timbers, such as oak and mahogany, yet have a very modest price tag. Similarly, one can find great bedside tables and coffee table at local auctions, second hand stores, online, or at garage sales, that will not break the budget at all!

Likewise, modern furniture is built to last. Long gone are the days of cheap ply board shelves and desks; now it is all about durability and stability. Furniture is designed to be able to withstand the likes of children and pets. Pieces of furniture that are fashioned from oak tend to be some of the strongest around, and are very resistant to exposure to both water and light. Take it from me, an oak bookcase will be in your possession for years to come, and will be a priceless antique before you even know it.

If you have a bit of a creative, artsy person, it would be a good idea to look at contemporary designs and post-modern decor. Furniture for the bedroom can come in a massive range of styles, shapes and colours, from the standard unfinished, rustic look, to the eclectic rainbow stained pieces that are becoming more and more common. At the end of the day, it is all a matter of personal taste – remember, your bedroom is all about you!

If you are looking to deck out your bedroom with some amazing pieces of furniture, do not hesitate. Once you have all your pieces assembled and positioned how you want them, you will wonder how you even went without your bookcase or coffee table!
